Wicker farming favoured a quality handcraft (fine basketwork from Origny-en-Thierache) that made the region famous in the early XIX century.
The basket makers from Thierache were known in Paris for their refined and elegant works.
And naturally, in the early XX century the professors recruited at the National School for Basketwork located in Fayl-Billot in Champagne region, came from here.

The exhibition of Thierache fine basketwork aims at showing the different steps involved in processing the wicker: from the raw material to the finished product.
The visitor will be introduced to Thierache fine basket making speciality, to the wicker farming areas, and the production methods (family work, side work, handcraft, and co-op work) as illustrated by the exhibition of tools.
The fine basketwork from Origny-en-Thierache was made with the XX century technique. That gave the splint.
