The goal of the association is to promote the church, the organ, the Saint-Michel abbey with its site and dependencies, to bring life to the buildings and their past and to involve the people in this process, to participate in the reconstruction of the building and its use and to help the many institutions and the city of Saint-Michel.

    The association is beneficiary of gifts and donations enabling it to offer entrance to the concerts of the music festival, at reduced prices.
    The association receives subsidies from the city of Saint-Michel, the regional counsel of Picardie, the general counsel of Aisne , the French ministry of culture and the European Union.

      Thanks to the action of a young inhabitant of Saint-Michel Jean-Luc Caillot (†), the association came to life again in 1981, after a long absence.

      Since then, the association plays a very active part in the life of the abbey site, and since 1987 in the organisation of the festival of ancient, sacred and baroque music in accordance with the departmental action led by the A.D.A.M.A.
      Last action carried out : the restoration of the church's bells which had melted in the 1971 fire.

     The association "friends of the abbey" has financially contributed to the city. The three new bells were blessed on December 18th , 1999 and installed in the tower. They rung for the first time on Christmas Day 1999 and on January 1st 2000.
