       otilla, king of the Goths, wanted to test the prophetic abilities of Saint-Benoit. So, he ordered Riggo his squire, to wear his clothes and to appear in front of Saint-Benoit surrounded by his royal escort.

       ut when Riggo wearing Totilla's clothes arrived escorted at the monastery, Saint-Benoit saw the lie and said "take off these things my son, take off what you are wearing they do not belong to you". Dumbfounded, Riggo fell back, as did all the others who were escorting him.
      In 542, Totilla himself came to see the holy man and knelt down before him. Saint-Benoit criticised him for his action and foretold his future. Terrorised, king Totilla asked for a prayer and converted himself to Christianity. .
We can notice an inversion in pictures, as engraving n° 11 corresponds to the wall painting n° 12 in the Saint-Michel cloister.
