This time he let himself be persuaded by his travelling companion to eat the food that he had been carrying. Upon his arrival at the monastery in the evening, Saint-Benoit criticised him for his weakness. The pilgrim threw himself in shame at Saint Benoits feet imploring his forgiveness.
